Dear Members,

Please accept this email as the official notice of the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the B.L.T. Tails to Trails Association.

Date: March 24, 2026
Time: 8:00 PM
Location: Virtual (meeting link to follow)

The final agenda, supporting documents, and virtual meeting link will be circulated at a later date.

At this time, the proposed agenda will include:
1. Welcome
2. Approval of minutes: AGM 2024 and Special General Meeting (November 18, 2025)
3. Financial Report
4. Transition Update

As part of our commitment to keeping members informed, we would like to provide some recent context. Over the past number of weeks, the Association posted notices seeking new board members and proposed a new funding approach to support the long term sustainability of the trail. These efforts followed meetings with our local MLA and HRM Councilor. We first met with them in November to explain the current situation facing the Association, and both elected representatives advised they would do their best to help identify potential new board members.

They reached out again in January, indicating there might be individuals interested in stepping forward. We agreed to meet with a group in February with the hope that a new board could be formed. Given that possibility, we requested that DNRR extend the trail return date to allow time for transition discussions. Unfortunately, following the February meeting, there was not enough support to establish a new board.

While any new board would likely face many of the same challenges, we felt it was important to make every reasonable effort to explore positive solutions and maintain continuity of the trail. More recently, we have also learned of provincial funding reductions that may further impact the trail.

We apologize for any confusion that recent updates or discussions may have caused, and we appreciate your understanding as we continue to work through this process in a transparent and responsible way. With our deadline with DNRR of March 31, 2026, we are now focusing on the transition of the trail, back to the Province, as initially planned.

We encourage all members to attend and participate in this important meeting.

Thank you for your continued support of the B.L.T. Rails to Trails Association.

Sincerely,
Board of Directors
B.L.T. Rails to Trails Associations
